How Results Are Managed
-
All results from your Liberty analyser are automatically shared with a dedicated team of nurse specialists. These nurses will review your data regularly and if they have any particular concerns they may contact your doctors and/or wider treating team.
You will be able to request for the nursing team to share your data with your treating team at any time.
-
Your dedicated nursing team of oncology nurse specialists work for one of the UK’s leading private healthcare providers and have years of experience supporting people through cancer treatment.
When you enrol onto Liberty, you will be introduced directly to your assigned nurse and will meet them over a video call. They will also contact your treating oncologist or wider healthcare team to let them know that they are supporting you.
Throughout monitoring with Liberty, you will be able to contact your nurse by phone or email. You will also have 24/7 support from the wider nursing team.
-
Your results will be available on your Liberty analyser and will also be shared with your oncology nursing team who can talk you through them. In the event of an emergency, the nursing team will do their best to ensure that other healthcare teams supporting you have access to the data from Liberty.
Technical support and additional training is available at any point whilst using Liberty.
-
It’s not unusual for your blood counts to become low during cancer therapy, however, your oncology nursing team is on hand to review your results and ensure you get timely support for particularly low results.
-
Yes. Liberty is designed to support your existing treatment plan and will not replace any of your existing appointments and treatment.
-
We will provide you with the contact details for your nursing team when you’re enrolled. You will be able to contact them at any time to ask questions and discuss your symptoms or test results. The nursing team's access to Liberty blood results will support them in helping make the best decisions.
You will still be able to contact your existing care team if you would prefer.
-
If you’re unable to reach your nursing team, please contact your treating oncologist or healthcare team. Otherwise, call 999.
Testing With Liberty
-
Your testing schedule will be established by your nursing team.
Testing generally takes place 3 times a week for the first 3-6 weeks. This helps your nursing team build a detailed understanding of how your body is tolerating treatment. After that, testing may change to once a week. You’ll still be able to do additional tests if you, your nurse or doctor feel the need to have more information.
Your nurse will work with you to establish a testing cadence that works best for you.
-
It only takes a few minutes to perform a test. Once the sample is placed in the analyser, you can leave it whilst it carries out the measurement (~30 minutes), and your results are then automatically sent to your nursing team.
-
The Liberty analyzer only requires a single drop of blood (12-18 µL) about the size of a ladybird which is acquired from a finger prick.
-
Along with the Liberty analyser, you will be provided with small sterile finger-prick devices (lancets) to collect a tiny drop of blood, along with a container (cuvette) that you collect the drop of blood with ready for the analyser to measure it.
You should have some tissue to hand and potentially a small plaster for you finger in the event that you don’t stop bleeding straight after testing.
After you receive all of your equipment, you will receive a training session to make sure you’re comfortable self-testing.
-
The Liberty analyser has been approved by UK regulators for self-testing during cancer treatment. This required the analyser to undergo extensive clinical trials with leading national cancer centres that compared its performance to that of a laboratory analyser.
These studies showed that Liberty’s results are accurate and reliable enough to be used in place of standard venous laboratory tests for routine monitoring. However, we always recommend to healthcare teams that confirmatory laboratory tests are carried out before any changes are made to your treatment. -
It’s not uncommon for some people to have difficulty bleeding. If this happens, our experienced team will be on hand to support you to achieve a successful test.
In some rare instances, there may be a systemic issue with how a person's blood reacts to the measurement technique used in the Liberty analyser. If this occurs, we will work with you to understand the best way forward.
-
To help you complete training, we require you to have access to a device with video calling options (e.g. a smartphone, laptop with camera or tablet).
To use the Liberty service, whilst it’s preferable to have access to WiFi to connect the analyser to, every device has built-in 4G cellular capability for sharing results with your nursing team.
-
Yes. We have worked with thousands of people undergoing cancer treatment to develop a device that is very simple to use. But to make sure you have the best experience and are confident using the device, we will arrange a virtual training session with one of our service specialists and your dedicated nurse.
Technical support and additional training is available at any point whilst using Liberty.
-
When you no longer require monitoring with Liberty, everything will be collected directly from your home. Our team will work with you to find a time that works best for you.

Cleaning is a very simple process and we will explain during training how to clean the device.
